A fun interval

I recently spent two weeks in Abilene, Texas working to clean out my Mom’s house and get it ready to put on the market to sell.

Mom reminded me that her quilt guild (the Abilene Quilter’s Guild) was presenting their annual show while I was there so we took some time off on Saturday to enjoy the show.

There were many wonderful quilts, but these were some of our favorites…..

I loved the colors and piecing of this one…..


I told Mom that I had this pattern at home and she is now interested in us making one similar to it…..


This was her all time favorite quilt.  Naturally it has lots of applique…..


I loved this pictorial quilt…..

I was glad to finally get a good photo of my Mom….smiling!!!


It was a nice interlude during two weeks of work!!!

It’s Sushi Time!!!


Last week was my birthday and some wonderful friends took Michael and I out for dinner…..for Sushi to be exact.

Now, this was the first time that I had ever eaten Sushi, and I found that it was a treat that I have been missing…..

A beauty from our trees


Michael brought this gorgeous flower in from our new Magnolia tree…….

The smell was SO sweet and the fragrance permeated the whole house.

Since this is the first year for the tree, we can look forward to many seasons of loveliness!!!!

Cooking with a many tentacle(d) thing……




I looked into our latest Garden Box and was startled to see this…..

I had no idea what it was and had to go back to the box list to find out.  It is a Garlic Scape…..apparently the tops of the garlic pods.

As I read, I found out that it had a mild garlic flavor and was great stir-fried… that is what we did.

We added pork, carrots and Bok Choy to the mix and ended up with a wonderful meal……
